Our credit services

We provide credit assistance by helping you identify and consider credit options and, where appropriate, assisting you to apply for a credit product with a credit provider.

For regulated consumer credit, we must not suggest that you apply for, or assist you to apply for, a credit contract that is unsuitable for you. In making our preliminary assessment, we make reasonable inquiries about your requirements and objectives and your financial situation, and take reasonable steps to verify your financial situation.

A credit contract will be unsuitable if it does not meet your requirements and objectives, or if it is likely that you would be unable to comply with your financial obligations under the contract, or could only do so with substantial hardship.

Information we request from you

We will ask you for accurate and complete information about your requirements and objectives, financial position, income, expenses, liabilities and other relevant circumstances so that we can assess whether a proposed credit contract is not unsuitable for you.

The quality of our assessment depends on the information you provide. Please tell us if any information changes before your credit assistance is completed.

Credit providers we conduct business with

We are able to arrange credit with a range of credit providers. The credit providers we have conducted the most business with may include Westpac, CBA, ANZ, NAB, Macquarie Bank and Resimac.

We will issue you with a Credit Guide once we start work on your application which will include the current list of most commonly used lenders.

Fees and charges payable by you

We may charge you an origination fee, credit assistance fee or another fee for our services. If a fee is payable by you, the amount or the method for calculating it will be disclosed to you before you are required to pay it, including in the Credit Quote where a Credit Quote is required.

You may also be charged fees by a lender or lessor. These may include application fees, establishment fees, valuation fees, Personal Property Securities Register fees and account-keeping fees. Relevant lender or lessor fees will be disclosed in the documentation provided to you, including the Credit Proposal where applicable.

Commissions and other benefits

We may receive commissions or other benefits from a credit provider or lessor when we arrange credit for you. These amounts are not directly payable by you. They may include an upfront commission and, for some products, an ongoing trail commission.

You may ask us for a reasonable estimate of the commission or other indirect remuneration we are likely to receive and information about how it is worked out.

Where relevant, we may also pay a commission or other benefit to a referrer or another third party who introduced you to us. You may ask us for a reasonable estimate of that amount and information about how it is worked out.

If a volume-based or other benefit arrangement applies with a credit provider, lessor or other person, we will disclose the information required by law. Where the mortgage broker best interests duty applies, we must act in your best interests and give priority to your interests where there is a conflict.

Credit Quote, Credit Proposal and preliminary assessment

If we charge you a fee for providing credit assistance and a Credit Quote is required, we will give you a Credit Quote before we provide the credit assistance. You must accept the Credit Quote before the relevant credit assistance is provided.

When we provide credit assistance, we will give you a Credit Proposal where required. The Credit Proposal includes information about costs payable by you and commissions or other indirect remuneration we may receive.

You may request a free written copy of our preliminary assessment if you ask within seven years of the date of the Credit Quote. If you request it within two years of the date of the Credit Quote, we will provide it within seven business days. If you request it after two years, we will provide it within 21 business days. We are not required to provide a preliminary assessment if we did not provide credit assistance to you.
